The domain

Of the 250 hectares of the estate, 40 are devoted to the “noble” leisure park, which creates a very authentic setting around the castle. It is composed of large lawns and home to many remarkable trees including sequoia, ginkgoes, Lebanon cedars and plane trees. Its style is characterised by wide curved pathways that surround it and the strong presence of water.

It was most likely designed by the Bülher brothers, two architect-landscapers from Paris, who also created the park of Buttes-Chaumont in Paris. Candé Estate is classified as an “Espace Naturel Sensible” (ecologically sensitive land). This classification distinguishes sites that combine environmental protection and welcoming the public.
